Wake Up Las Crucens (cont'd)

The Mayor and his progressive anti-business environmental coalition consisting of Sharon Thomas, Gil Sorg, Nathan Small, and Olga Pedroza all want to redesign Las Cruces to change its character. It apparently doesn’t fit their image for the southwest or look like the cities they came from. I’m not sure their vision is the same as the families who have lived here for multiple generations who have by default have allowed the Council to redesign their city. WAKE UP Las Crucens! For more than twenty years the Lions Club has supported medical care for the children of this community through funds received from their annual gun show. This year Mayor Miyagishima wanted to impose additional restrictions on the sale of firearms even though the City attorney advised him it was in violation of both the United States and New Mexico Constitutions. They mayor suggested that if the public didn’t like it they could use the courts to remedy it. WAKE UP Las Crucens and protect your rights!
This progressive City Council pays dues to an international organization that advocates government control of all private property and has adopted their sustainable development policies. They hope these guidelines will transform Las Cruces into another high density European type city where natives of those cities can no longer afford to live and no longer recognize the city they grew up in. Don’t let this City Council force you and your families out of the city created by your ancestors. WAKE UP Las Crucens it’s your heritage!
Being followers rather than innovative leaders Las Cruces has rushed to embrace renewable energy. They provided generous subsidies for industrial park properties to renewable energy producers with the promise of green jobs for Las Crucens. How many Las Crucens have been hired for these jobs? Probably no more than would fit into one automobile. The recent collapse of SOLYNDRA, a highly subsidized major California solar energy provider, demonstrates the financial failure of this technology. Is the City really looking out for your interests? WAKE UP Las Crucens!
The present financial conditions of the City are not the result of the wise City Council policies but are the result of the income generated by five significant government projects. Construction of the Federal Courthouse, City Hall, Conventions Center, Aquatic Center and the Municipal Court all created jobs and generated tremendous revenues for the City. Those are finished and the golden goose is gone. What has this Council done to fill this void – nothing except to institute anti-business policies. WAKE UP Las Crucens, your vote really does matter!
